It is with great regret and sadness that we have to record the death of John Watson after a short illness. John had intended to work part time with Chris Sales of JVSA Accountants to whom the business of our Ormskirk office was transferred at the end of August 2010. John had run the Ormskirk office for a number of years following the retirement of Roy Allan and had been looking forward to taking things a bit easier as a prelude to full retirement in a year or two. John joined the firm 35 years ago and became a partner in 1979.

The Ormskirk practice of Gasking Lace & Co was transferred to JVSA Accountants, of 20 Derby Street, Ormskirk, with effect from the end of August 2010. We chose JVSA for the merger with our Ormskirk practice because, having known Chris for some years, we saw this as being a good fit with ourselves, having a similar approach to both client service and charges. In addition JVSA will be retaining the majority of our professional staff, including Jim Gentles with whom you have become used to dealing over the years.

Chris Sales is also a Chartered Accountant.  He had been operating from his home in Lydiate for 17 years until joining JVSA in February 2005.  Chris is highly experienced in all accountancy and taxation matters which affect you and your tax returns, and is looking forward to speaking to you as soon as possible.

Gasking Lace & Co are pleased to announce that their Waterloo office business has been transferred to Bresnan Walsh, (now BW Macfarlane Accountants), of 3, Temple Square, Liverpool. Colin Antrobus, the partner running our Waterloo office, is available as a consultant to ensure a smooth transfer, whilst also looking after a small number of clients he has retained.. We believe that this tranfer, to a firm with a similar outlook and with similar areas of specialisation, ensures that our clients will be well looked after into the future. Phyllis Fleming, who rejoined Gasking Lace & Co., earlier this year and who has worked on a number of our charity and business clients, will also be transferring to Bresnan Walsh.

Bresnan Walsh, formed in 1926 by Eddie Bresnan, has for many years been heavily involved in the charity sector and in advising families and their businesses. Gasking Lace have had a very similar tradition and ethos of client centric service. It is then with particular pleasure that we are able to announce that the Waterloo office of Gasking Lace is joining Bresnan Walsh with effect from 23 November 2010.
